One of the most precarious parts of New Year's Eve is the drive home. Especially in the snow-filled conditions of this year. So, to avoid the danger of sending people out who shouldn't yet be driving to fend off other drivers who should not be driving, Vince decided we should host a second show. No alcohol was served, instead, you could buy a boxed lunch with cookies and water to help sober up and keep the party going.
We hand-picked some songs for the occasion, and at 1am, our first gig of the new year kicked off. We spotted new faces who came from other parties, but mostly we were looking at people who stuck around from our early gig. It was a slightly lower-key affair, meant to wind the party down to a dull roar. But by 2am, there were still cries of "more." To which we respectfully declined. It was a long and glorious day. But by the end, the Del Ray had hosted one of the hottest parties of both 2006 and 2007. Well, that's our humble opinion.
